Every 2027 XC60 drives all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic. The B5 AWD combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a 48-volt mild hybrid system that assists under acceleration and recovers energy under braking, for 247 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque.

The T8 AWD plug-in hybrid adds an electric motor on the rear axle and an 18.8-kWh battery, and Volvo rates it at 401 horsepower for 2027. It runs on electricity for short trips, then works as a hybrid once the battery is depleted, so a commute down SR 200 can happen without burning fuel at all.

An 11.2-inch free-standing center display runs Google built-in, which brings Google Maps, Google Assistant and apps from Google Play, with four years of data included. A 12.3-inch driver display sits behind the wheel with Calm and Navi views, and software updates arrive over the air.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connect through the USB-C port in the center console, and a wireless charging pad at the front of the console delivers up to 15 watts. Three audio systems are offered: the standard 10-speaker, 220-watt setup, Harman Kardon Premium Sound on the Ultra, and an available Bowers & Wilkins system that plays through 15 speakers.

Volvo fits every XC60 with collision warnings and mitigation, lane keeping aid, BLIS blind spot information, Cross Traffic Alert with Rear Auto Brake, Driver Alert monitoring, and front and rear Park Assist. Adaptive cruise control is standard at every level, from Core through Ultra.

The Plus level and up add Pilot Assist, which layers lane centering onto the adaptive cruise, plus a 360-degree camera view. Connected Safety shares hazard and slippery-road warnings with other connected Volvos on the same road.

The XC60 seats five, with heated front seats standard and eight power adjustments up front. Core and Plus use quilted Nordico, Volvo's leather alternative, and the Ultra brings ventilated Nappa leather along with four-zone climate control and a tailored dashboard.

A panoramic roof with a power sunshade is standard from Core, and the sunshade can deploy on its own once temperatures reach 77 degrees, which earns its keep in a Marion County summer. Volvo quotes 63.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the 40/60 backrests down, and 17.1 cubic feet behind the rear seats of a B5 when five people are aboard.

The XC60 wears Volvo's refreshed face, with a diagonal-pattern grille anchored by the Iron Mark and Thor's Hammer LED headlights with automatic high beams. Wheels run from 18 to 22 inches, and the Black Edition finishes its wheels and exterior details in black.

At 185.4 inches long on a 112.8-inch wheelbase, the XC60 parks easily and still clears 8.2 inches of ground. Color choices include Crystal White, Onyx Black, Denim Blue, Bright Dusk, Mulberry Red, Vapour Grey, Aurora Silver and Forest Lake.
