Roadside Assistance Plus lasts through any remaining new-vehicle warranty and the certified warranty, and it runs around the clock. If a warranty-related breakdown happens far from your primary residence, trip interruption benefits can help with costs like meals, lodging and a rental car, subject to Volvo's distance and expense limits.2

Does the certified warranty limit my miles?

Not during the certified warranty period. It's 12 months with unlimited mileage, starting after the 4-year/50,000-mile Basic Warranty ends or on your purchase date, whichever gives you the later end date. Before that period starts, the Basic Warranty's 50,000-mile limit still applies.

What happens if my Volvo breaks down?

Volvo Roadside Assistance Plus is available 24/7 through any remaining new-vehicle warranty and the certified warranty. If a warranty-related breakdown happens far from your primary residence, trip interruption benefits can help with expenses such as meals, lodging and a rental car, subject to Volvo's distance and expense limits.

Could I pass the warranty on to a family member?

Volvo says the warranty is fully transferable to a new owner at no charge for the remainder of its term, so it can go with the car to a family member.

Do driver assistance features get checked?

Yes, on cars equipped with them. Volvo says the inspection includes verifying the function of systems such as Lane Departure Warning, Pilot Assist and BLIS.

What about roadside help once the certified warranty is over?

Towing continues. Volvo says the car stays eligible for Volvo Roadside Assistance after the warranty expires. That program covers the first 25 miles of a tow at no cost, either to an authorized Volvo dealer after a breakdown or to a Certified Collision Center after an accident. Longer tows carry an overage fee. Other roadside services and trip interruption end with the warranty unless you have a Volvo Increased Protection plan, which includes Roadside Assistance Plus, or enroll in the paid membership Volvo offers.

Does a certified plug-in hybrid keep its battery warranty?

Any remaining part of the original 8-year/100,000-mile high-voltage battery warranty continues when the car is sold as Certified by Volvo, so check how much is left on the one you like.

Can I get more than the 12 months?

You can buy a Volvo Increased Protection plan for up to 5 more years, with unlimited-mile options. Plan availability depends on the car, a deductible may apply and the service contract has the full terms.

How much can I do before leaving home?

Volvo Roadside Assistance Plus is included for the period of the vehicle warranty, including any remaining new-vehicle warranty and the Certified by Volvo limited warranty, and provides 24/7 help. It includes complimentary towing to the nearest Volvo Cars authorized retailer after a mechanical disablement, and a tow to a Volvo Certified Collision Center for up to 25 miles after a traffic accident. Roadside services include gas delivery, flat tire changes, battery jumps, lockout help and winching. It is meant for emergency situations, not repeated calls for routine maintenance, snow removal or snow tire changes. It does not cover vehicle storage charges, parts and installation, products, materials or impounding/tow fees. Trip interruption benefits apply to warranty-related disablements beyond a set distance from your primary residence and cover expenses such as meals, lodging, car rental and commercial transportation, subject to Volvo's limits. After the warranty has expired, the vehicle is still eligible for Volvo Roadside Assistance, which is limited to towing: no cost for the first 25 miles of a tow to an authorized Volvo Cars retailer after a mechanical or electrical breakdown, or to an authorized Certified Collision Center after an accident, with an overage fee beyond the first 25 miles. Roadside Assistance Plus is available as a paid membership after that, with its own towing, service and trip interruption limits.
  3. 3. Inspection areas are from the Volvo Car USA description of the Certified by Volvo program. Features are checked on vehicles equipped with them.
  4. 4. Volvo Increased Protection (VIP) plans are optional service contracts, sold separately from the Certified by Volvo warranty. Coverage level availability may be limited based on the age, mileage, make and model of the vehicle. Deductible may apply. Some plans may include rental car, towing and travel coverages.   5. 5. Every new fully electric and plug-in hybrid Volvo comes with an 8-year/100,000-mile (whichever comes first) high-voltage battery warranty. Any remaining coverage continues if the vehicle is sold as a Certified by Volvo vehicle.
  6. 6. The CARFAX Buyback Guarantee helps protect you from unknowingly buying a used car with a DMV-reported incident (salvage, fire, flood damage, odometer problems or lemon history).
