Performance and Handling
A modern and efficient powertrain is one of the most
notable qualities of the Volvo XC90 Recharge Plug-In Hybrid. The Plug-In
Hybrid uses a different powertrain than its XC90 siblings, capable of
producing up to 400 horsepower in power and nearly 20 miles of fully
electric range. The Volvo's advanced hybrid system has impressive torque
capabilities as well, with the capacity to generate 472 pound-feet in
torque using a battery pack and an electric motor.
The 2022 model uses the same suspension system and upgraded
brakes added to the model in 2021 for a smoother and more comfortable
ride. All-wheel drive is standard on the Recharge Plug-In Hybrid, and it
has an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Recharge Plug-In Hybrid
has a towing capacity of 4,000 pounds.
Interior and Amenities
With the Volvo
XC90 Recharge Plug-In Hybrid you have the choice of six-person
or seven-person seating layout. A total cargo capacity of 85.7 cubic
feet provides all the storage space needed for your belongings and
accessories. While there are some differences among the trims, all trim

R-Design has ambient interior lighting, navigation, and a Harman Kardon
sound system with 14 speakers. Rear sunshades get added to filter out
sunlight. With the Inscription comes a Bowers & Wilkins sound system
with more speakers and an automated parking system. Massaging front
seats are available, and you can choose wool blend upholstery instead of
leather seats. Some features that are standard on the higher-end trims
are available as add-on options with the lower-end models.
Safety
The Volvo XC90 Recharge Plug-In Hybrid has one of the most
comprehensive safety packages in its class. The Volvo has a package of
advanced safety aids that includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping
assist, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic rear braking, and adaptive
cruise control to start. More safety features get added with the
higher-level trims. A 360-degree camera comes included starting with the
second Recharge trim, and automated parking is standard or available
for select trim levels.
Design
A contemporary design with a Scandinavian flair highlights
the XC90 Recharge Plug-In Hybrid. The Recharge starts with 19-inch
wheels, but the higher-end models upgrade to 21-inch wheels instead.
Adaptive LED headlights are standard. The R-Design has black accents and
illuminated door sills. You can get performance tires on the higher-end
models, and the top trims add more chrome exterior detailing,
too.
